Walk for Memories
Walking Makes a Difference!
Established in 2006 by the Fédération québécoise des Sociétés Alzheimer, the Walk for Memories is held simultaneously in several cities throughout the province.
In Montreal, more than 33,000 families are affected by Alzheimer’s or related diseases. The Alzheimer Society of Montreal plays an important role in helping those families.
You can also help make a difference for people with Alzheimer’s and their families.
Participate in the Walk for Memories and help us to:
- Increase awareness
- Make a financial contribution to research
- Accompany people with the disease
- Support caregivers
- Provide training to healthcare professionals
- Fight the disease
2010 Edition
On May 30th, 2010, the cobbled streets in Old Montreal and the Quays of the Old Port shook as hundreds of walkers participated in the 4th annual provincial RONA Walk for Memories. In addition, ten retirement homes on the Island of Montreal organized their own activities, in order to support the 33,000 Montreal families touched by Alzheimer’s disease!
The grand total that was raised during this event was $110,000! Thank you for your great generosity!
The success of this event was made possible through the invaluable collaboration of our 50 volunteers and our sponsors, who donated several goods and services to help us embellish our event.
We wish to thank everyone who was in attendance, as well as those who helped us raise funds for our cause. Not only did you contribute to the Alzheimer Society of Montreal’s mission, you helped build awareness around our cause to the Montreal population. Thank you!
Mark your calendars, as the next Walk for Memories will be held on Sunday, May 29th, 2011!

2009 Edition
On May 31st 2009, over 500 walkers invaded the pathways on the Quays of Montreal Old-Port and De La Commune Street, despite a strong wind and an uncertain weather. Thanks to their support, as well as our numerous partners and sponsors, over 100,000 dollars were raised for the Memory Walk 2009! Congratulations!
Dr. Howard Bergman, Vice-President Scientific Affairs – Fonds de la recherché en santé du Québec, seized the occasion to present the highlights of his report on Alzheimer’s disease. He was accompanied by the Minister of Health, Dr. Yves Bolduc, the Minister for Social services, Lise Thériault, and the Minister Responsible for Seniors, Marguerite Blais.
