First Link: An Indispensable Tool for Doctors and Healthcare Professionals
“First Link” is a reference protocol for doctors and healthcare professionals working with people with Alzheimer’s or related diseases. It aims to:
- Promote optimum care for people with Alzheimer’s or related diseases, as soon as they are diagnosed;
- Effectively meet the needs and expectations of people with Alzheimer’s disease and their families, in terms of the care and assistance we provide.
For many doctors, it is difficult to tell a patient that he or she has Alzheimer’s. They don’t want to be the bearers of bad news, and the word “Alzheimer’s” is often scary, making many people feel powerless.
For professionals working with seniors, it is often difficult to adapt to the specific needs of people with the disease. There are many complex challenges.
With First Link, the doctor or other professional offers people with Alzheimer’s and their families, at the crucial moment of diagnosis, the opportunity to join a mutual support and information network, to enhance their own wellbeing.
If you would like additional information about the First Link programme, or to receive a First Link kit, please do not hesitate to contact us.
